ORGANISE YOUR TRIP, PLANS FOR THINGS TO DO NEAR ROSES

Welcome to Roses! The area surrounding our city is full of history and culture. Exceptional villages, incredible landscapes, unique tourist attractions and delicious gastronomy. We want you to take advantage of all this and discover the jewels in the crown around Roses, that's why we have prepared this list of 10 plans that you can't miss during your stay in Roses. First of all, let's talk about the towns. You'll want to spend at least a day in each of them, as they both have their own charm. - Besalú: This medieval town, 45 minutes from Roses, was built on an ancient Roman settlement, and is full of cobbled streets that will make you feel like you've stepped back in time as you cross over its medieval bridge. You will also find in this town, the Circus Museum, highly recommended for both children and adults if you like the circus. - Girona: In Girona, the capital of the province, you will find numerous museums and monuments dedicated to the rich history of Catalonia. It is also home to one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe, the only one in Spain that has not been rebuilt since its construction in the 13th century. The Jewish quarter, the beautiful streets, the wide range of activities on offer and the delicious food make this city a must-see for at least a whole day.
And then? The food. The cuisine here is famous for being simple but delicious: think fresh seafood straight from the sea, local vegetables and fruit of the highest quality and top quality meats. Here are a few dishes that you must try during your stay in Roses: - Roses Prawn Carpaccio
- Anchovies from l'Escala with tomato bread
- Taps from Cadaqués
- Rice dishes with Rice from Pals
- Escudella: this is the typical soup eaten at Christmas. It will be very difficult (or impossible) to find it in summer, but if you come in winter you can't miss it.
- Calçots and grilled meat: you will find calçots from January to March.
- Fideuà
- Fish stew
And finally, we bring you a list of tourist attractions that you have to visit. These are close to Roses, and are visits that won't take you more than a few hours, but you can complement them by visiting the town or combining several in the same day. Ruïnes d'empúries: you will find these ruins in L'Escala. They are the ruins of an ancient Greek civilization and later occupied by the Romans. The site is incredible, right in front of the sea and in the middle of nature. The site is also home to the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia, a must if you are passionate about history and archaeology. Museu Dalí: For art lovers, the Dalí Museum is in Figueres, just 25 minutes from Roses. In this museum you will find the most outstanding works of the painter, inside an impressive building, in the purest Dalí style. Visit Cadaqués: Cadaqués is a tourist attraction in itself, it is one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, and you will fall in love with it at any time of the year. You can go for a walk through its streets in the morning and take the opportunity to eat there in one of its exquisite restaurants, such as "Compartir", which has two Repsol suns and is recommended in the Michelin Guide. Casino de Peralada: If you want a different and memorable night in your holidays, this plan is ideal for couples or a group of friends. This Casino is located inside the Peralada Castle, and is one of the most famous casinos in the country. Cap de Creus Natural Park: you can visit the castle of Sant Pere de Rodas, the Cap de Creus lighthouse and take a short trip to see the most beautiful coves in the area. Of course, all these plans are for you to make after getting to know our own city, where you will find many things to do and to visit.
